We are a family-owned and operated business based in Jefferson County, Missouri. Our founder has had a hammer in his hand for as long as he can remember. After years as a contractor specializing in additions, kitchens, bathrooms, and full-home remodels, he grew frustrated with the same problem—every time he needed a flat surface or to fur out a wall, it meant dragging out the table saw. Working in a client’s home often requires making cuts outside, no matter if it’s raining, snowing, or blazing hot.
Wedge shims have been around since the time of the Great Pyramids, but they haven’t changed much. That frustration sparked an idea: create a simple, safe, and even fun way to shim and fur uneven surfaces—without the hassle of the saw. From that vision, BIG ASS SHIMS™ was born.
